Why Montessori?

Montessori Educates the Whole Child

  • This holistic approach to learning looks at the physical, social, emotional & intellectual development of the child.

  • Learning takes place during three-hour uninterrupted work cycles built into the day. With time to investigate, practice, and ask questions, children can learn at their own pace.

  • Rather than evaluate one moment in time, guides observe the true aptitude and potential of a child over time in many situations.

  • Montessori environments offer materials and lessons designed to develop concentration and critical thinking.

  • Multi-age classrooms mimic a family structure allowing younger children to observe and learn through example while older students seize the opportunity to lead.

  • Montessori offers freedom within limits. With the flexibility to choose resources, areas of study, and how they work, students feed their fundamental desire to learn.

  • The adults in the room act as guides, creating supportive environments where self-direction and exploration are highly encouraged. In that way, recognizing and correcting errors are a natural part of the learning process.

  • Research shows that Montessori students are active, enthusiastic, and proud of their academic work.

The Lupine Difference

High Standards

Our school is dedicated to upholding the standards of the American Montessori Society by offering mixed-age classrooms with quality Montessori materials, 3-hour uninterrupted work cycles, an open door policy with teachers and the head of school, and a mindset of continuous improvement.

More than Academics

Scholastic achievement is not the only hallmark of Montessori education. Kindness and empathy are critical social skills that need to be taught and practiced. Through an intentional curriculum of peace and culture, children learn how to be friends, coworkers, collaborators, leaders, and helpful neighbors.

Connecting to the Natural World

We use the daily influences of nature to encourage discovery, a sense of wonder, and the pursuit of adventure. Through these experiences, children not only develop a relationship with the earth but improve executive function, long-term memory, creativity, and problem-solving.

Sustainability

We support stewardship of the earth through on-site recycling, composting, and thoughtful and creative use of resources.

We’re a community you can trust.

Our team includes experienced AMS & AMI certified guides, a Board of Directors comprised of parents and community members, and parents who are engaged in Montessori education.

“Whoever touches the life of the child touches the most sensitive point of a whole which has roots in the most distant past and climbs toward the infinite future.”
