A Day to Remember: Lupine Montessori’s Inaugural Track Meet

Lupine Montessori recently held its inaugural track meet alongside fellow Montessori school, Joliet Montessori - and from the very first moment, it was clear this would be something special.

Upon arriving at the track, student-athletes could be heard laughing nervously and playfully as they prepared for their events. Adorned in their Wolf jerseys and running shoes, they were ready. From the moment the first whistle blew, the air was filled with excitement and anticipation.

What unfolded that day was far beyond competition.

As a spectator, I watched parents cheering for their own children, their friends’ children, and kids they had never met. Not one athlete went without hearing their name called. The students showed up for each other in the most incredible ways - stepping onto the track to help friends across the finish line, reaching out for high-fives, and offering hugs and encouragement at every turn.

From a student losing a shoe at the beginning of a race and never stopping - still beating their personal record by four seconds - to another who started out saying they couldn’t do it, only to sprint across the finish line with the biggest, most joyful smile because yes, they could and they did. From students running alongside their friends on the field just to cheer them on, every moment told the same story: these kids were there for each other.

None of that happens by accident. The coaches and parent volunteers who poured themselves into this event created something far greater than a race day -  they built an environment where every child felt safe enough to be brave. Through their encouragement, patience, and belief in each athlete, they gave the students the courage to step outside their comfort zones, push further than they thought possible, and discover just how capable they truly are.

The whole event was electric, and it is exactly what Montessori is about - nurturing the whole child. Not just the runner, but the encourager. Not just the competitor, but the community. At Lupine Montessori, success looks like showing up, lifting others, and discovering what you’re capable of together.

And when it was all over, the entire team gathered - athletes and coaches side by side - for one final photo. Every single face was beaming. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day, and a snapshot of exactly what Lupine Montessori is building: something much bigger than a track team.

All smiles after the meet!

Here’s to the first of many. Go Wolves!
