About Lupine Montessori in Lockport, IL

Our school’s name is inspired by the story of Miss Alice Rumphius, a woman who is charged with traveling to faraway places and making the world a more beautiful place. While admiring volunteer flowers, lupines, she decides to plant as many seeds as she can so that these flowers can be enjoyed by all. Her small, simple act creates a beautiful world that benefits all. The vision of Dr. Montessori and the story of Miss Rumphius, the Lupine Lady, inspired us to create a school where making the world a better place is a natural part of learning and growing. It is a special environment where seeds of knowledge, independence and compassion are planted and cultivated. We are passionate about serving the needs of the community at large at are eager to share our energy with other professionals who are excited by education.

A supportive, tight knit community, Lupine Montessori School, located in Lockport, Illinois, started in 2017 as the dream of a community of parents and educators seeking the best Montessori school for their children. Together, we’ve built a school which joins their interests of authentic Montessori education, environmental sustainability, and partnerships between school faculty, families and the community. The dedicated Board of Directors has a long term strategic plan filled with steps to take Lupine far into the future to include Montessori learning opportunities for all ages. The energy and excitement at this new school is palpable!

We are eager to meet individuals who are passionate about Montessori to join our team as we continue our goal of Making the World More Beautiful.
